Leisure

The City of Blue Springs does a fabulous job providing leisure opportunities to its citizens. Some of the more celebrated programs include City-sponsored athletic leagues, instructional programs, Community Theatre productions, and numerous special events, including the annual Barbeque Blaze-Off and the Mud Volleyball Tournament.

The City's Centennial Pool-Plex is a year-round facility that includes a 25-yard indoor pool, a 50-meter outdoor pool with two giant waterslides, and an outdoor infant wading pool with zero-depth entry. The Pool-Plex is home to instructional swimming and diving lessons, as well as wellness classes, competitive swim programs, lap swimming, and open swim events.

Vesper Hall is a 14,000 square-foot community center adjacent to Rotary Park at Railroad Lake. It is operated by the 50-Plus division. A variety of services and volunteer opportunities are provided through this division including a subsidized meals program, health and exercise programs, instructional classes, and many new and exciting recreational offerings.

Blue Springs is fortunate to have a mix of city, county, and state parks available to its residents. Eighteen public parks, with 679 acres of park land, are located throughout the community. Within the city boundaries, the Parks Department maintains over 350 acres in 12 parks. The well-planned distribution of parks throughout the city’s neighborhoods provides access and opportunity for all residents to enjoy.
