The New District 56
District 56 for Missouri State Representative
has newly drawn boundaries for the 2002 elections. All district
boundaries were required by law to be redrawn based on the 2000
census population data, so that each district has approximately
34,500 people in it.
While much of District 56 remains as it
previously was, there are many perimeter changes. District 56
generally includes the southeastern corner of Jackson County, with
much of it being unincorporated areas. It now includes most of
Lee's Summit, a small portion of southeast Independence, a
southern portion of Blue Springs, and
Lake Lotawana, Lake Tapawingo, and
Lone Jack.
