I am seeking election to the Jackson County Legislature as the 5th District representative. Terry Young is vacating this seat to run for State Representative. I am seeking this to fill Terry’s shoes because I feel that I have the skills and desire to serve this District well. My strong labor background is founded on the belief that it is the American working men and women who are the backbone of this country and its economy. I want to fight for the working men and women of Jackson County. One way to keep Jackson County’s money in Jackson County (and with its workers) is to advocate a policy of selecting local companies with union workers for any contacts that are issued by the county whenever possible. We are long time residents of Eastern Jackson County. I am currently Vice-President of Sni-A-Bar Democratic Club, have worked on the Stop the Violence Committee for Jackson County - Domestic Abuse. I am a current member of the 5th District Democratic Club, and have and am currently serving on the Truman Day’s Committee, a member of the Women’s Political Caucus, past President of Deer Run Homes Association . Currently president of Xi Mu Pi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, service society, I was a substitute teacher in the Raytown, Lee’s Summit and Blue Springs school districts. I am a graduate of the University of Missouri - Kansas City with Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Philosophy and History. I am married to Jerry Kenter, a partner in the Boyd and Kenter Law Firm with offices Kansas City and Sedalia, Missouri. His practice focuses on Worker’s Comp and Labor Law. We have a son, Jonathan Kenter and a daughter Heather Kenter-Rodriguez, her husband Steve Rodriguez and step-grandson Steven Rodriguez. My extensive community involvement includes the following:
I will be a full time legislator for the working men and women of the 5th District. I will have the time to answer all questions I can, and find the answers I can’t. I will have the time to do the research to determine both the desires of the voter and what is in the best interest of the county and the state. It will be my policy to maintain an open door for all Jackson County residents. I need your help in this pursuit. My immediate need is for financial assistance. By law the maximum campaign contribution allowed per individual or entity is $575.00. However, any amount will be greatly appreciated. Please click (here) if you are willing to help.
Thank you for your support.
