A Lifetime of Public Service

Lois first served the larger community as a registered nurse for St. Luke's, Kaiser Permanente and Children's Mercy Hospital. It was through her commitment to children that she later became a foster parent.

In 2004, she chaired the Citizen's Committee on Public Safety to upgrade equipment, training and facilities for Independence Police and Fire Department. This successful ballot initiative will bring $61 million dollars in new revenue to improve public safety in Independence.

She's been involved in:
  • Independence Schools Bond and Levy Committee
  • Independence Beautification Commission
  • Independence Board of Ethics
  • Public Safety Sales Tax Oversight Committee
  • Independence High School Task Force
  • Salvation Army Advisory Board
  • Gala Committee of Hillcrest Ministries
