Why I am running for a position on the Oak Grove School Board:

I believe my experience working with students, parents, staff and administration will be very valuable as the District continues to insure the best possible educational experiences for all students. I believe we need to stress STRAIGHT A's for all students. By that I mean ACADEMICS, ARTS, ATHLETICS, ACTIVITIES and ATTITUDES.

Scott Fleming

Scott Anthony Fleming was born in Missouri in 1977. He grew up in Oak Grove where he attended the Oak Grove R-VI School District his entire academic career. While attending Oak Grove Schools, he participated in varsity athletics. Since 1996, he has been employed by Jim Kidwell Construction based in Greenwood, Missouri. In his off-time, Scott travels the country and the world as a professional arm wrestler. A 1996 Oak Grove High School Graduate, his dedication to the success of the students in Oak Grove Schools continues as the father of a third grader at Maple Elementary. Scott is a fund-raising/scholarship coordinator (Pulling for Education), Panther Agility Training coordinator, and little league football coach. With a lifelong connection to the District and personal ties which include both family and friends who work for the District, Scott feels he can bring a valuable perspective to the school board.

Pulling for Education

In its third successful year at Maple Elementary, this annual arm wrestling tournament has raised hundreds of dollars for Maple Elementary's literacy fund while promoting physical activity and good sportsmanship to its participants. In 2011, the first Maple Elementary Alumni will have the opportunity to earn a Pulling for Education scholarship -- a scholarship granted to a student (nominated by peers and/or teachers) who has exemplified positivity during his/her high school career.

Panther Agility Training

In its initial year, the Panther Agility Training Program is already a success. Open to students who want to remain active and practice vital physical skills during football's off season, this after school program boasts numerous participants who look forward to maintaining their physical activity while practicing integral agility skills in a fun and energetic environment.
