Why I am
Running for the City Council...
I
love Blue Springs. My husband and I chose Blue Springs as the
place we wanted to live and raise our family.
We have a wonderful school system,
outstanding parks and recreation facilities, great road
accessibility and amazing citizens.
As a resident for 15 years, I have
witnessed our community go from a very desirable and up and
coming city with community pride to a place where residents
have to leave town to work, shop and go to dinner.
I have experienced neighbors and
friends leaving Blue Springs because they can’t find homes to
purchase in their housing market. Realtors tell me they take
clients to Lee’s Summit and Kansas because they have very few
if any listings for Blue Springs. I want that to change. We
need to offer diversity in housing so that people can start
out and stay in Blue Springs.
We need to keep our sales dollars here
in Blue Springs by offering residents new retail
opportunities. We need to bring in new businesses to help
offset the heavy tax burden placed on homeowners. We need new
jobs so that we can change the fact that 80% of our residents
leave Blue Springs everyday to go to work.
We need to protect our greatest asset –
our wonderful schools by involving the school district in
decisions that affect them. We need to work hand in hand with
our schools so that our children and grandchildren will
receive the best education possible.
We need to
bring quality businesses, quality jobs and quality housing to
Blue Springs.
I believe I can help us achieve these
goals and help lead Blue Springs to a bright future.
